Nita Baum, Founder, b*free
Nita Baum is the founder of bfree and was born and raised in Queens, NYC to Indian immigrant parents. She draws on 20+ years as an educator, facilitator, healer, and leadership coach. She founded b*free to cultivate Healing Leadership to grow leaders and teams’ wellbeing and creative potential to transform Workplaces to Healingspaces. Nita feels most whole when she is in service, able to express herself creatively and hold space for healing. Nita’s entrepreneurial experience includes founding 2 social impact for-profits and a nonprofit. Her training and practice spans neuroscience, psychosomatic + trauma healing modalities, leadership development, conflict resolution, DEI, and creative and embodied healing practices from music to movement. She was a K-12 teacher, university faculty member, private sector consultant, a director at the NYC department of Education and founded and led Alight, a strategy consultancy. Nita is founding Board Chair Emeritus of Solar Responders, which empowers firefighters in Puerto Rico with renewable energy and has solarized 20% of the island's fire stations. She is currently working on the development of a retreat, healing, community and music center in the Brazilian Amazon. Being a caregiver to her two dying parents and an aunt to a niece and two nephews have been among the most transformative experiences of her life. She has a BA in Pre-medicine and Art History from Columbia University and an MBA from George Washingtonn University School of Business.
